Remove/Install Air Suspension Valve Unit - AR32.22-P-2015MNE

Model 213.088/089/288/289 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)

WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

  Notes on AIRmatic   AH32.22-P-1000-02LW 
REMOVING Remove     
1 Release pressure from air suspension using diagnostic system    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
2 Raise vehicle   AR00.60-P-1002LWG
3 Unscrew nuts (1) and remove cover (2)    
4 Extend heat shield (3) out of stud bolts and push to one side    
5 Disconnect electrical connection (4)    
6 Mark compressed air line connections (5) relative to valve unit (6)    
7 Remove compressed air line connections (5) from valve unit (6) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
8 Remove bolts (7) and take off valve unit (6)    
INSTALLING Install     
9 Position valve unit (6) and tighten screws (7) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt valve unit to bracket for compressor unit *BA32.22-P-1003-03H 
10 Remove all stop plugs    
11 Mount compressed air line connections (5) to valve unit (6) NOTES The thread of the compressed air line connections (5) may not be damaged.
Otherwise, leaks will occur.
IMPORTANT Observe markings.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Pressure line to compressor/valve unit (P) *BA32.22-P-1004-03H 
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque tool set Fig 5
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque wrench Fig 2
    If the threads are damaged

Repair compressed air line connections (5).

12 Connect electrical connection (4)    
INSPECT Check     
13 Read out and erase fault memory using the diagnostic system    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14 Perform an engine test run and check air suspension for proper operation    
15 Check valve unit (6) for leak tightness   AR32.22-P-8100LW 
INSTALLING Install     
16 Position heat shield (3) into stud bolts    
17 Position cover (2) and tighten nuts (1)    
18 Build up pressure of air suspension using vehicle diagnosis system    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
19 Lower vehicle fully   AR00.60-P-1002LWG
