  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.		 AS00.40-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.		 AS00.00-Z-0017-01A
  Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove propeller shaft (7).   AR41.10-P-0050LW
2 Unscrew collar nut (40). IMPORTANTSPECIAL TOOL To do so, screw 2 screws into joint flange (41) and counterhold joint flange (41) using counterholder.

3 Remove joint flange (41). SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 2
4 Check joint flange (41) for damage. If damage is found,
↓
Replace joint flange (41).		  
5 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (42) out of rear axle differential (50) using suitable tool. NOTES
Do not damage seat of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50). Otherwise leaks may occur.		  
INSTALLING Install     
6 Clean sitting surface of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50). Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
7 Check sitting surface of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50) for damage. If damage is found,

Replace rear axle differential (50).

8 Coat radial shaft sealing ring (42) on inner sealing lip with transmission oil.    
    NOTES
Do not apply any transmission oil to seat surface and outer circumference of radial shaft sealing ring (42). Otherwise leaks may occur.		  
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7)   BB00.40-P-0235-07A
9 Press radial shaft sealing ring (42) into rear axle differential (50). SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 6

10 Grease gearing of joint flange (41). Molykote paste HTP special lubricating grease *BR00.45-Z-1028-06A 
11 Install joint flange (41).    
12 Tighten and caulk collar nut (40). IMPORTANT Replace collar nut (40).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 213Collar nut, joint flange to drive pinion *BA35.31-P-1001-06A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 238Collar nut, joint flange to drive pinion *BA35.31-P-1001-06C

13 Install propeller shaft (7).   AR41.10-P-0050LW
CLEAN Check     
14 Check oil level in rear axle differential (50) and correct if necessary. Model 213.088/089/288/289 AR35.31-P-0520-08MNE 
    Model 213 (except 213.088/089/288/289), 238 AR35.31-P-0520-08OLC 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Oil filler screw of rear axle differential *BA35.31-P-1002-02H 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Model 213.088/089/288/289Filling capacity for rear axle differential with differential lock *BF35.31-P-1003-02C 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Model 238Filling capacity *BF35.31-P-1001-02D

15 Check rear axle differential (50) for leak tightness.
