Remove/Install Upper Control Arm - AR33.20-P-0500LW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Perform power disconnect of high-voltage on-board electrical system. Model 205.012/047/147/212/247 AR54.10-P-1150LW
Model 253.354/954 AR54.10-P-1150LVH
2 Disconnect ground line and positive line of on-board electrical system battery. Model 205 (except 205.012/047/147/212/247), 213, 253
When removing the upper transverse control arm (2) on the front passenger side.

3 Remove cover (5) or service flap (6).    
4 Unclip coolant expansion reservoir (8). When removing right upper transverse control arm (2).  
5 Unscrew nuts (7) and remove motor fuse and relay module (K40/8) and place to one side with connected lines. When removing the upper transverse control arm (2) on the driver's side.  
6 Remove left or right front wheel.   AR40.10-P-1102A
7 Remove left or right front suspension strut. Model 205 with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
Model 213 with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
Model 253 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL)

8 Remove front level sensor retaining clamp (1) from upper transverse control arm (2). If installed.
IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.
 
9 Unscrew nut (4). NOTES
Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (3) may be damaged.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, steering knuckle to transverse contro arm *BA33.20-P-1006-01U 
10 Remove upper transverse control arm (2) from steering knuckle (3).    
11 Secure steering knuckle (3) with a cable tie.    
12 Unscrew nuts (9) from screws (10). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, transverse control arm to body *BA33.20-P-1005-01U 
13 Remove bolts (10).    
14 Remove upper transverse control arm (2).    
INSPECT Check     
15 Check elastomer bearings at upper transverse control arm (2) for wear and damage. If problems occur,

Replace upper transverse control arm (2).
 
16 Check upper ball joint at upper transverse control arm (2) for wear and damage. If problems occur,

Replace upper transverse control arm (2).
 
17 Check upper transverse control arm (2) for damage. If problems occur,

Replace upper transverse control arm (2).
 
18 Install in the reverse order
