  Notes on threaded connections fastened using a tightening angle-based tightening process   AH00.00-P-0020-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove hub cap from corresponding front wheel. Model 205, 213, 253} with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

If the front wheel has to be removed for this purpose ↓ remove corresponding front wheel, then mount again.		 AR40.10-P-1102A
2 Unfasten front axle shaft bolt (10) to wheel hub. Model 205, 213, 253 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
Model 293		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, front axle shaft to wheel hub *BA33.30-P-1001-02H 
3 Remove corresponding front wheel.   AR40.10-P-1102A
4 Unscrew front axle shaft bolt (10) from wheel hub. Model 205, 213, 253 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
Model 293
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace front axle shaft bolt (10).
Tighten front axle shaft bolt (10) lightly by hand.		  
5 Remove brake disk. Model 293 AR42.10-P-0230EQ

6 Detach left front axle rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front axle rpm sensor (L6/2) and place to one side with electrical line connected. Model 213.061/261 AR42.30-P-0713LWA

7 Unclip electrical line from bracket (13). Model 205, 213 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) Model 253, 293  
8 Unhook front right brake wear sensor (S10/2) from bracket (2). When removing the right steering knuckle (1).  
9 Remove nut (11). Model 205, 213 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

10 Unscrew nut (3) and remove tie rod (4). NOTES
Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (1) may be damaged.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, tie rod to steering knuckle *BA46.40-P-1001-01P 
11 Remove nut (5).
Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths		 NOTES
Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (1) may be damaged.		 AH00.00-P-0015-01CW

12 Remove nut (6). NOTES
Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (1) may be damaged.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, spring control arm to steering knuckle *BA33.20-P-1001-01U 
13 Unscrew nut (7) and remove upper transverse control arm (8) from steering knuckle (1). NOTES
Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (1) may be damaged.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, steering knuckle to transverse contro arm		 *BA33.20-P-1006-01U 
14 Pull torsion bar linkage (12) out of steering knuckle (1). Model 205, 213 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

INSTALLATION NOTES
The guide pin (14) must latch into the cutout (15) in the steering knuckle (1).
Otherwise, the steering knuckle (1) will be damaged.		  
15 Guide steering knuckle (1) out of strut rod and spring link and remove.    
16 Remove brake cover plate (9). When replacing the steering knuckle (1).

17 Remove wheel bearing. When replacing the steering knuckle (1). AR33.20-P-0302LW 
18 Detach bracket (13). Model 205, 213 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

When replacing the steering knuckle (1).		  
19 Install in the reverse order.
