REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Deactivate easy entry and exit feature for steering wheel. Model 205, 253, 293 with code 275 (Driver's seat, electrically adjustable with memory function) Model 213
with code 275 (Memory Package (driver's seat, steering column and mirror)) Model 217, 222 as of 4/30/14
 
2 Turn rack-and-pinion steering (5) into center position (front wheels in straight-ahead position) and fix steering wheel in place using holding device. NOTES Do not twist steering wheel when steering coupling (1) is removed.
The clock spring contact will be destroyed otherwise.

4.2 Remove front and rear section of lower engine compartment lining. Model 293 AR61.20-P-1105EQ
5.1 Disconnect steering coupling (1) on lock (2) from steering shaft (3). Model 205.0/2/3/4, 213, 253 except code 700 (Technology Local Content China)

Disconnect/connect steering coupling (1).

    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Installation: Turn rack-and-pinion steering (5) to center position and connect steering coupling (1).  
    SPECIAL TOOL Engine mount wrench set Fig 2
5.2 Disconnect steering coupling (1) at universal joint from steering shaft (3). Model 205.0/1/2, 213, 253 with code 700 (Technology Local Content China)

    Disconnect/connect steering coupling (1). AR46.10-P-8000-01LWA 
    Turn rack-and-pinion steering (5) to center position. AR46.20-P-0600-01LW 
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Installation: Turn rack-and-pinion steering (5) to center position and connect steering coupling (1).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking bolt, steering coupling to lower steering shaft

6 Remove screw (4) from steering coupling (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 217, 222 as of 4/30/14Bolt, steering coupling to rack-and-pinion steering *BA46.10-P-1002-01M 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205, 213, 253, 293Bolt, steering coupling to rack-and-pinion steering *BA46.10-P-1002-01N 
7 Remove steering coupling (1) from rack-and-pinion steering (5). IMPORTANT Pay attention to installation position.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Installation: The guide on the dust cap (6) must be seated without tension in the groove of the steering coupling (1) (arrow).
 
8 Install in the reverse order.
