The main service document and the safety notes in the service document must be observed.
- Install rear center section (1) and fit.
Helper required.
- Install trunk lid seal.
- Install striker eye.
- Check gaps using
feeler gauge and adjust.
- Fix rear center section (1) in place.
- Remove trunk lid seal.
- Remove striker eye.
- Drill rivet holes in rear-end center section (1) with 6.7 mm bit through existing holes in body and countersink (area A).
The operation step is shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side.
- Drill rivet holes on rear-end center section (1) with 6.7 mm bit through present holes in body and countersink (areas B).
- Remove rear center section (1).
- Deburr rivet holes on rear center section (1) and body on both sides.
The following operation step 14 is shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Do not coat insides of the riveted joints, to which no 2-component adhesive is applied, with zinc dust paint.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to inside of body in cross-hatched area.
The 2-component adhesive is partly wiped off in this area when the rear end center section is installed, making it necessary to apply additional adhesive for compensation. Also apply 2-component adhesive to new part.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install rear center section (1) and fix in place.
Helper required.
The following operation steps 16 and 17 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle.
- Rivet rear-end center section (1) with countersunk head blind rivet with a diameter of 6.4 x 14.0 (area C).
- Weld in rear center section (1) with
(area D).
- Bend back connecting flange on left and right rear fender.
- Rivet rear-end center section (1) with countersunk head blind rivet with a diameter of 6.4 x 14.0 (areas E).
