The main service document and the safety notes in the service document must be observed.
- Expose spot welds on rear center section (1) and cut out (areas A).
Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
- Expose spot welds on rear center section (1) and drill through with 6.5 mm bit (areas B).
The following operation steps 3 to 7 are shown on the left of the vehicle and must be performed advantageously on the right side.
- Expose spot weld on rear-end center section (1) and cut out (area C).
- Expose spot welds on rear center section (1) and drill through with 6.5 mm bit (area D).
- Bend connecting flange on rear fender (2) (arrows E).
- Bend connecting flange on rear-end center section (1) (arrow F).
- Heat rear center section (1) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove rear center section (1).
Helper required.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
The following steps 12 and 13 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side of the vehicle.
- Grind mating surface down to bare metal in crosshatched area on inside.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.
