Remove/Install Rear Crankshaft Radial Sealing Ring - AR03.20-P-3064MFG

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.		 AS18.00-Z-0001-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove flywheel/drive plate.   AR03.30-P-8001MFG 
2 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (1) out of timing case cover (2) with a suitable tool. NOTES Do not damage crankshaft and sitting surface on the timing case cover (2).
Leaks can occur otherwise.		  
INSPECT Check     
3 Check seat surface of radial shaft sealing ring (1) on timing case cover (2) for ridging and damage. If ridging exists
↓
deburr sitting surface.
If damage is present:
↓
replace timing case cover (2).		 AR01.40-P-8000MFG
4 Check crankshaft for galling and damage. If there are problems:
↓
Install new crankshaft.		 AR03.20-P-4351MFG 
INSTALLING Install     
5 Clean contact surface of the crankshaft. NOTES The contact surface of the crankshaft must be free of grease.
Leaks can occur otherwise.
Assembly cleaner		 *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
6 Position insertion device (3a) on crankshaft and attach with two screws. SPECIAL TOOL Insertion tool Fig 2
7 Slide the radial shaft sealing ring (1) in the direction of the arrow onto the insertion device (3a). IMPORTANT Replace radial shaft seal (1).

8 Mount insertion device (3) on insertion device (3a). IMPORTANT Align bores in SPECIAL TOOL insertion device (3) with screws in SPECIAL TOOL insertion device (3a).

9 Attach nut to thread of insertion device (3a). SPECIAL TOOL Insertion tool Fig 2
10 Tighten nut and insert radial shaft sealing ring (1) until insertion device (3) is in contact with timing case cover (2). NOTES The radial shaft sealing ring (1) must lie flush with the timing case cover (2).
Leaks can occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Insert radial shaft sealing ring (1) evenly along entire circumference.		  
11 Unscrew screws of insertion device (3a) from crankshaft and remove insertion device (3, 3a).    
12 Install flywheel/drive plate. IMPORTANT Only install lower engine compartment paneling after leak test. AR03.30-P-8001MFG 
13 Check engine oil level and correct. Engine 139 in model 118, 177, 247  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Engine 139 in model 118, 177 AP18.00-P-1812AKI
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14 Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
15 Install lower engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105MFR
