Install And Gauge Connecting Rod Bearings - AR03.10-P-6111-06MR

Engine 133, 139, 260, 270, 274

  1. Assign connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) to the cylinder.

    IMPORTANT When reusing the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b), they must be installed on the same cylinder and in the same direction.

    IMPORTANT When replacing the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) only certain color combinations of the upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) and lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a) are installed on the respective connecting rod (2). To do this, observe the possible combination options of the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) that are listed below.

  2. Wet connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) with engine oil.

  3. Insert connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) into the respective connecting rod (2) or the respective connecting rod bearing cap (1).

    NOTES Ensure that the anti-twist locks (b, d) of the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) lie on the respective inner edges of the grooves (a, c).

    If the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) do not sit in the middle, engine damage may occur.

    IMPORTANT The anti-twist locks (b, d) of the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) must be located in the grooves (a, c) in the connecting rod (2) and the connecting rod bearing cap (1).

    Combination options for the lower and upper connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) 

    IMPORTANT Only the following color combinations may be installed. There is no cylinder assignment. The color coding is applied to the side on the connecting rod bearing shell (4a, 4b).

    • A yellow upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) requires a yellow lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a).
    • A blue upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) requires a red lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a).
    • A red upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) requires a blue lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a).
  4. Wet connecting rod bolts with engine oil.
  5. Place the connecting rod bearing cap (1) onto the respective connecting rod (2) and manually screw in the connecting rod bolts.

    IMPORTANT Connecting rods have been cracked (broken) during manufacture. The connecting rod bearing caps (1) are not interchangeable and cannot be fitted laterally reversed. Ensure correct assignment and installation position on the basis of the attached markings.
