Outer Rear Wheel Well Removal - Ar63.10-P-0660-01MFC

IMPORTANT

The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. This must be similarly performed for damage to the right side of the vehicle.

Additional information can be found in the superordinate service document.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating point on side wall reinforcement (1) and separate (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  2. Expose spot welds on side wall reinforcement (1) and cut out (areas B and C).

    IMPORTANT

    Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (area C).

  3. Expose spot welds on outer rear wheel well (2) and cut out (areas D and E).

    IMPORTANT

    Cut off common spot welds on panels that are located one behind the other through two panel thicknesses.

  4. Bend open fixing lug (3).

  5. Heat outer rear wheel well (2) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT

    Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Remove outer rear wheel well (2).

  7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT

    Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  9. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area F).

    Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
