REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Disconnect ground line from on-board electrical system battery.   AR54.10-P-0003MFA
2 Remove display cluster for head unit/instrument cluster (A40/16).   AR54.30-P-6023MFA
3 Remove screw/bolt (1).    
4 Remove glove box.   AR68.10-P-1400MFA
5 Remove trim from front passenger side A-pillar.   AR68.30-P-4050MFA
6 Remove bolt (3).    
7 Unclip cover (4). SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Fig 2
8 Unclip center instrument panel speaker (H4/27) and place to one side with lines attached. Model 118, 177
with code 810 (Premium sound system)

with code 853 ("Midline" sound system)
NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the lines which may impair their functional capability.
SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge

9 Remove screw (6).    
10 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (7). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Ensure that the catch mechanism engages audibly.

11 Remove bolt (8) and place electric line to one side. NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject line to tension.
This will result in damage to the line and can impair its functional capability.
IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electric line from front passenger airbag (14).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, ground connection of front passenger airbag to crossmember below instrument panel

12 Remove screws (9). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front passenger airbag unit to instrument panel *BA91.60-P-1003-01Q 
13 Remove the bolt (10). Model 118, 177
with code 460 (Canada version)

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front passenger airbag unit to instrument panel
*BA91.60-P-1003-01Q 
14 Remove center console.   AR68.20-P-2000MFA
15 Remove screw/bolts (15).    
16 Remove nuts (11). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, front passenger airbag unit to instrument panel *BA91.60-P-1002-01Q 
17 Lift instrument panel support (12) slightly and remove front passenger airbag (14). NOTES
Only lift instrument panel support (12) until the front passenger airbag (14) is accessible.
Otherwise, the instrument panel support (12) will become damaged.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Insert front passenger airbag (14) into guide (13).
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
 
18 Install in the reverse order.    
19 Connect vehicle diagnosis system, read out fault memory and clear if necessary.
