Remove/Install Engine Hood Lifter - AR91.60-P-0900MFA

Model 118, 177, 243, 247.6/7 

with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood)

WARNING Risk of injury  during testing and repair operations related to pyrotechnical components Do not expose pyrotechnical component parts to temperatures above 100°C or 212°F. Disconnect current supply when working on such component parts. AS91.00-Z-0008-01A

INSPECT Check     
1 Check engine hood hinges for deformation. If the left active hood squib (R12/49) or right active hood squib (R12/50) has triggered.
If deformation is found,

replace left and right hinges on hood.

    Model 118, 177 with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood) AR88.40-P-3061MFA
    Model 243 with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood) AR88.40-P-3061EQA
2 Remove pedestrian protection sensor and check for damage or deformation. If the left active hood squib (R12/49) or right active hood squib (R12/50) has triggered.  
Topical note  General information on the impact absorber   AH88.20-P-1000-01A
      AR91.60-P-0950MFA 
    If damage or deformation is found

replace impact absorber and pedestrian protection sensor.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
3 Disconnect the ground line for the on-board electrical system battery (G1).   AR54.10-P-0003MFA
4 Release and disconnect electrical connector (3) then remove plug housing (4) from air/water duct cover (5).    
5 Remove electric line (6) from air/water duct cover (5).    
6 Remove nut (7). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/nut, hood lifter to body *BA91.60-P-1002-02A 
7 Remove left active hood squib (R12/49) or right active hood squib (R12/50).    
8 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
9 Connect vehicle diagnosis system and check Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
