Remove/Install 48 V On-Board Electrical System Battery - AR54.10-P-0022MFA

DANGER Risk of fire  /risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC. No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Commission 48 V battery (G1/3). When replacing 48 V battery (G1/3).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
2 Remove load compartment floor.    
3 Print out analysis sheet.    
REFER TO FORMS Analysis sheet for 48 V lithium-ion battery, form   OF54.10-P-3000-15C 
4 Check housing of 48 V battery (G1/3) for mechanical damage. IMPORTANT Check the non-visible area on the housing after removal of the 48 V battery (G1/3).
IMPORTANT Using 48 V lithium-ion battery analysis sheet form, check whether damage is present on 48 V battery (G1/3) through which electrolyte is leaking.
If yes,

notify MPC/general representative.
 
5 Check for potential hazards of 48 V battery (G1/3). IMPORTANT In the event of smoke generation or fire, notify the fire department.
IMPORTANT Using 48 V lithium-ion battery analysis sheet form, check whether 48 V battery (G1/3) presents an acute danger.
 
6 Disconnect ground line of battery of 12V onboard electrical system.   AR54.10-P-0003MFA 
    IMPORTANT The 48 V on-board electrical system is automatically disconnected from power supply at the latest 10 s after disconnecting the ground line from the 12 V on-board electrical system battery.  
7 Unclip electric line from battery frame (2). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 1
8 Remove nuts (1) and remove upper battery frame (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, battery frame to battery carrier/transmission mount *BA54.10-P-1002-01D 
9 Remove cover caps from nuts (3, 4).    
10 Remove nut (3) and remove ground line. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, ground line to battery of 48 V onboard electrical system *BA54.10-P-1011-01D 
11 Detach nut (4) and remove positive line. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, positive line to battery of 48 V onboard electrical system *BA54.10-P-1010-01D 
12 Disconnect electrical connector (5) and unclip electric line.    
13 Remove degassing pipe (6).   AR54.10-P-0022-01FR

14 Remove nuts (7) and remove 48 V battery (G1/3) with lower battery frame (8). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolts, battery carrier to body *BA54.10-P-1009-01D 
15 Remove screws (9) and remove 48 V battery (G1/3) from lower battery frame (8). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check insulating washers (10) are correctly seated.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, battery of 48 V on-board electrical system to battery frame *BA54.10-P-1012-01D 
16 Install in the reverse order.
