Interior Scuff Lining

Interior scuff liners should have a minimum thickness of 3/32" and should be located at a minimum height of 12" from the bottom of the floor. Examples of acceptable scuff liners include raised molded scuff (RMS), which is molded into the panel in the manufacturing process, and fiberglass reinforced plastic liners, which are bonded to the panel after it is manufactured. It should be noted that a double layer of woven roving fiberglass has not proven to be an effective scuff liner over an extended period of time.

Heavy duty laminated hardwood (i.e. trailer flooring) and steel liners offer additional interior sidewall protection for trailers and van bodies subject to heavy fork truck traffic.
