Purpose And Scope

This Recommended Practice (RP) provides fleets with guidelines for selecting and installing balance weights that may or may not contain lead in accordance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Lead-Free Wheel Weight Initiative (NLFWWI). The scope of this RP is limited to balance weights for tire/wheel assemblies used on commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 10,000 lbs.
