Heat Checks

These appear as dark spots on the rotor surfaces and are created by the heat of the friction material interacting with impurities in the metal of the rotor casting. Heat checks will affect the vehicle's braking performance by increasing stopping distances and creating pedal pulsation. These may be machined out using the manufacturer's specifications.
