Halogen headlamps, standard
Front headlamp
The new Sprinter is equipped as standard with halogen headlamps.
In the halogen headlamps, the lamps for the dimming and high beam as well as the turn signal lamps are found.
The light switch is located on the left of the steering wheel and is available with or without a zero position, depending on the equipment installed.
Headlamp range adjustment is available.
Front fog lamps with cornering lights
The front fog lamps and the rear fog lamp can be switched on and off with the switch to the right of the light switch.
The halogen front fog lamps are integrated in the front bumper and support the cornering lights function (with code L13 (front fog lamp with cornering lights)).
Cornering lights improve the illumination of the road in darkness, particularly when turning and on tight bends. When turning, the cornering light is switched-on on the inside of the bend. Because pedestrians or obstacles can be detected earlier, the cornering light ensures significantly greater safety when turning, e.g. onto poorly illuminated roads.
The triggering condition for switching on the cornering light is the intention of the driver to turn which is defined by the position of the combination switch (turn signaling) or the steering wheel angle (steering movement).
Actuation of the cornering light is activated in the following situations:
- At a vehicle speed of less than 70 km/h from a certain steering movement
- At a vehicle speed of less than 40 km/h and active turn signaling
Rear lamps
The rear lamps are equipped with conventional bulbs for the tail light, brake light, turn signal light, reversing lamp, license plate lamp, and rear fog lamp.
The rear fog lamp is always integrated in the left rear lamp
Brake lamps
All panel vans and buses are equipped with an LED brake lamp on the rear roof edge (with code LB5 (center high-mounted brake lamp)) Through their noticeable flashing, the Adaptive Brake Lights (with code LE1 (Adaptive Brake Lights)) can reduce the reaction time of drivers in the vehicles behind significantly and thereby prevent rear-end collisions. The flashing brake lamps are activated at a speed of more than 50 km/h. If the vehicle comes to a standstill after heavy brake application at a speed of more than 70 km/h, the hazard warning light system switches on automatically. It is switched off automatically as soon as the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h.
Omission of parking lights
In the equipment variant with code L94 (Parking lights omission) the parking lights function is deactivated. Instead, these vehicles must be parked with activated standing lights if necessary.
