Drive - SN00.00-D-0080-13A
Model 907 with engine 642, 651
except code ZL3 (National version for Latin America)
Drive concept
Sprinter model 907 with rear wheel drive
Sprinter model 907 with all-wheel drive
4-cylinder diesel engine OM 651
For transversely mounted engine OM 651, the oil dipstick and oil dipstick tube are omitted. For longitudinally mounted engine OM 651, only the oil dipstick is omitted. The oil dipstick tube is still present. The oil level is recorded by a fill level sensor. The oil level check is performed via the instrument cluster.
The optimized common rail injection system works with a system pressure of up to 2,000 bar. The injection pressure within the rail is achieved through a regulated high-pressure pump. Solenoid valve injectors are installed.
6-cylinder diesel engine OM 642
For engine OM 642 in model 907, the oil dipstick is omitted. The oil dipstick tube is still present. The oil level is recorded by a fill level sensor. The oil level check is performed via the instrument cluster.
Model 907
4-cylinder diesel engine OM 651
Engine OM 651 is used for the market launch of the new Sprinter with the following performance variants:
- Engine OM 651 DE 22 LA 84 kW (114 hp) 3,800 rpm
- Engine OM 651 DE 22 LA 105 kW (143 hp) 3,800 rpm
- Engine OM 651 DE 22 LA 120 kW (163 hp) 3,800 rpm Two-stage sequential turbocharging is used to optimize pollutant and consumption emissions. This involves two differently sized series connected exhaust gas turbochargers with boost pressure control.
6-cylinder diesel engine OM 642
Engine OM 642 is available exclusively for model 907 in performance variant 140 kW (190 hp).
Model 910
The transversely mounted 4-cylinder diesel engine OM 651 is used for vehicles with front wheel drive with the following performance variants:
- Engine OM 651 DE 22 LA 84 kW (114 hp) 3,800 rpm
- Engine OM 651 DE 22 LA 105 kW (143 hp) 3,800 rpm
- Engine OM 651 DE 22 LA 130 kW (177 hp) 3800 rpm for camper van conversion
The engine is mounted transversely and inclined 2.5° toward the front. An air-cooled exhaust gas turbocharger with variable turbine geometry is used for single-stage charging.
In the case of equipment without a refrigerant compressor, the belt drive has an additional pulley.
Transmission
Model 907
In the Sprinter with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, two tried-and-tested manual transmissions are used:
- 6-speed manual transmission ECO Gear 360
- 6-speed manual transmission ECO Gear 480
It consists of a fully synchronized 6-speed manual transmission with a maximum input torque of 360 or 480 Nm. A two-mass flywheel is installed for increased comfort. The standard gear shift indicator gives indications for a fuel-saving driving style. Furthermore, the recommended gear is displayed in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster.
The familiar 7G-TRONIC PLUS with fully integrated electrohydraulic transmission control is used as the automatic transmission. Seven forward gears and one reverse gear are available.
Exhaust system
With the market launch of the new Sprinter, code MR6 (low-pollutant vehicle Euro 6c Group III) is available, in combination with the four-cylinder diesel engines, for all vehicles with approval as a truck < 3.5 t or with approval as a truck >3.5 t, above a reference mass of 1,760 kg up to a maximum reference mass of 2,840 kg. Vehicles with the following characteristics are certified exclusively with code MP6 (engine version Euro VI):
- Registration as passenger car
- 5 t total mass
- 6-cylinder diesel engine OM 642 DE 30 LA 140 kW (190 hp) 3,800 rpm
- All-wheel drive
For diesel engines in combination with code MP6 (engine version Euro VI) or code MR6 (low-pollutant vehicle Euro 6c Group III), the emission levels are fulfilled with the aid of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) exhaust gas aftertreatment system with the addition of AdBlue®. The AdBlue® tank, including filler pipe with blue fuel filler cap, is located on the assembly carrier and is completely filled ex factory. The maximum AdBlue® filling capacity is 22 l. The fill level can be retrieved via the instrument cluster.
The following exhaust systems are optionally available for model 907:
- Code K60 (straight rearward-pointing exhaust), standard for tourer
- Code K63 (exhaust to side behind rear axle), only panel van and tourer
- Code KA3 (exhaust to side in front of left rear axle), only chassis, cab, and crewcab
- Code KA6 (exhaust system for power take-offs), only panel van
Fuel system
In models 907, fuel tanks with a different capacity are installed.
Model 907
- Fuel tank 71 l as standard
- Code KB7 (main tank 93 l) optional
Incorrect fueling protector
An incorrect fueling protector is available as special equipment. It has a cut off mechanism with two levers. The cut off mechanism is designed so that it can be unlocked only by a standardized diesel pump nozzle. This prevents the vehicle from being fueled with gasoline.
The fuel pumps of some gas stations are equipped with a diesel pump nozzle for trucks with an enlarged diameter for accelerated refueling. Refueling of a vehicle with this kind of truck pump nozzle is not possible in combination with the incorrect fueling protector.
