In vehicles with front wheel drive (model 910), the vehicle pre-installation for towing capacity up to 2000 kg is also required for the realization of a max. towing capacity of 2000 kg. The pre-installation includes the following technical content:
- Longitudinal member reinforcement
- Adapted fan with wiring harness
- Adapted alternator with wiring harness
- Code E57 (Electrical system for trailer socket)
- Corresponding prefuses/fuses in on-board electrical system
- Reinforced brakes at rear axle
Without the vehicle pre-installation for towing capacity up to 2000 kg and the resulting adapted technical content, it is not possible to retrofit a trailer coupling.
Code FA1 (I owered cab roof)
The lowered cab roof is available for the 3.5t, 4t and 5t Sprinter chassis. In the case of the platform with doors, the door frames as well as the remaining roof structure are trimmed. In comparison to the standard chassis, this roof variant specially adapted to the requirements of camper van bodybuilders facilitates the reduction of the overall vehicle height of alcove vehicles. The stability of the shortened body is ensured by an auxiliary roof frame provided with the vehicle that must be mounted by the bodybuilder. Add-on roof equipment, e. g. alcove roofs can be attached and secured to the auxiliary roof frame. The max. dynamic tongue weight is 100 kg. The top of the auxiliary roof frame is approx. 60 mm lower than the standard platform with doors. No attachment points exist ex works for the roof attachment to the roof auxiliary fame. To increase the stability of the shortened side parts during transport, a bow is attached for delivery in the area of the B-pillar that must be removed by the bodybuilder and be replaced by the auxiliary roof frame. The auxiliary roof frame consists of a hollow section and is screwed on with six screws to both body side parts. The screws envisaged for attachment are provided.
