Below is a description of how to use and handle basic body filler (2-component basic epoxy body filler).

The basic body filler is suitable for:

Prefilled surfaces and joins
Liquid solder-free removal of surface irregularities The layer thickness of the basic body filler should not exceed 2 mm.

Cartridge of basic body filler with static mixer

Grind respective repair area down to bare metal (picture A).
Basic body filler must not be used on painted or primed surfaces (including near edges).

Otherwise, the adhesive effect will be impaired.

Commercially available devices/tools

Rotary wire brush
Remove shavings.
Commercially available devices/tools

Wet and dry vacuum cleaner
Repair area with silicone remover.
The 2-component adhesive in repair area (figure B).
For partial rebuilding in area of groove welds.

To ensure a uniform mixing of the components, a quantity of 2-component adhesive that amounts to two static mixer lengths must be pressed out and discarded.

No further preliminary treatment is required to work with the 2-component adhesive.
Incorporate the 2-component adhesive into the repair area using a brush and/or a spreader (picture C).
For partial rebuilding in area of groove welds.

Use a brush with plastic bristles.

The basic body filler can then be applied wet on wet on the previously applied 2-component adhesive.
Apply the basic body filler in a serpentine line (picture D).
The application of the basic body filler is facilitated by preheating the cartridge in a cartridge heater box (max. 60 °C).

To ensure a uniform mixing of the components, the first 10 cm of the mixed basic body filler must be discarded (the filler is gray where mixed correctly).

Apply the basic body filler (picture E).
The application temperature lies between 15 and 35 °C.

Curing is realized with an infrared lamp (max. 60 °C) within 60 min.

In the case of air drying, the curing time lies between 8 and 24 h depending on the layer thickness and ambient temperature.

Shock cooling is to be avoided.

For the further processing, it must be ensured that all layers are completely cured and completely dry.
Restore surface in repair area.
