Model 907
The listed instructions must be strictly observed.
Otherwise, damage to the respective propeller shaft may generate vibrations or humming noises in the passenger compartment.
Propeller shaft of front axle differential on model 907 with code A4M (4MATIC)
When removing and installing the propeller shaft, the following conditions must be met:
- Do not exceed constant velocity joint's maximum working angle (a) of 12° relative to front axle differential.
- Do not exceed constant velocity joint's maximum working angle (a) of 12.7° relative to transfer case.
- Do not apply any impacts to the positioned screws of the constant velocity joint to the transfer case.
- The constant velocity joints must not be exposed to any tensile or pressure load.
- Handle propeller shaft on pipe of propeller shaft only.
- During disassembly work, the propeller shaft may only be clamped in the permitted areas (cross-hatched areas) in suitable clamping devices (e.g. vise with protective jaws).
- Do not damage painted surfaces or the markings on the propeller shaft.
Propeller shaft of front axle differential on model 907 with code ZG1 (All-wheel drive, engageable) or with code ZG3 (Engageable all-wheel drive with transmission ratio)
When removing and installing the propeller shaft, the following conditions must be met:
- Do not exceed the constant velocity joint's maximum working angle (a) of 12.7°.
- There must be no impact permitted on the positioned screws of the respective constant velocity joint.
- The constant velocity joints must not be exposed to any tensile or pressure load.
- During disassembly work, the propeller shaft may only be clamped in the permitted areas (cross-hatched areas) in suitable clamping devices (e.g. vise with protective jaws).

Propeller shaft to rear axle differential
When removing and installing the propeller shaft, the following conditions must be met:
- A helper is essential during removal/installation.
- The propeller shaft is aligned as horizontal and straight as possible for transportation, storage, removal and installation.
- Do not exceed joint flange's maximum working angle (b) of 15.5° to transmission.
- Do not exceed the center joint's maximum working angle (c) of 22°.
- None of the joints may be exposed to any tensile or pressure load.
- The propeller shaft must not exhibit any damage (e.g. deformation, corrosion, bearing wear). Otherwise, this leads to noise generation and malfunctions.
- The propeller shaft must not be treated with wax or underbody protection. Otherwise, this leads to noise generation and malfunctions due to imbalance.
- Do remove or damage existing balance weights at the propeller shaft during removal/installation. Otherwise, this leads to noise generation and malfunctions due to imbalance.
- The respective propeller shaft intermediate bearing must be installed without tension.
- If there are joining arrows on the individual propeller shaft parts, the joining arrows must be in alignment with one another and face the vehicle floor when tightening the screws of the propeller shaft.
- If there are no joining lines on the individual propeller shaft parts, the individual propeller shaft parts must have match marks placed on them before disassembly.
- During disassembly work, the propeller shaft may only be clamped in the permitted areas (cross-hatched areas) in suitable clamping devices (e.g. vise with protective jaws).
