- Mark separating point at rear-end center section (1) (area A1
).
Observe dimension (A).
- Mark separating point on outer part of rear-end center section (2) as shown (area A).
- Mark separating point on reinforcement (3) as shown (area A2
).
- Separate the separating points on the outer part of the rear-end center section (2) and the inner part of the rear-end center section (1) (area A1
), on the outer part of the rear-end center section (2) (area A), and on the reinforcement (3) (area A2).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components underneath will be damaged and strength will be impaired.

Body power jigsaw
- Expose the spot welds on the outer part of the rear-end center section (2) (area B), reinforcement (3) (areas C and D).
Commercially available devices/tools
Rotary wire brush
- Mill off the spot welds on the outer part of the rear-end center section (2) (area B), reinforcement (3) (areas C and D).
Commercially available devices/tools
Spot weld milling machine
- Heat the outer part of the rear-end center section (2) in the cross-hatched area.
- Remove damaged outer part of rear-end center section (2).
- Remove soundproofing (7).
- Mark separating point on reinforcement (3) (area F).
- Separate reinforcement (3) at separating point (area F).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components underneath will be damaged and strength will be impaired.

- Expose spot welds on vehicle floor (area H) and reinforcement (3) (areas G and I).

Rotary wire brush
- Mill off spot welds on vehicle floor (area H) and reinforcement (3) (areas G and I).

Spot weld milling machine
- Remove damaged reinforcement (3).
- Mark separating points on the inner part of the rear-end center section (1) (areas J, K, L and M).
- Separate the inner part of the rear-end center section (1) at the separating points (areas J, K, L and M).

- Remove remaining piece (8).
- Grind mating surface in cross-hatched area (area R) down to bare metal.

- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas and around holes.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

- Remove shavings and milling chips.

- Zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.
- Grind mating surface down to bare metal in the cross-hatched area.
