The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on vehicles with damage on the right side of the vehicle.
- Mark the separating point around the longitudinal member at the front (1) (area A).
Observe dimension (A).
Measure dimension (a) on the bottom of the front longitudinal member (1).
- Separate front longitudinal member (1) at separating point (area A).
Commercially available devices/tools
Body power jigsaw
- Remove damaged front longitudinal member (1).
- Expose spot welds on remaining section (2) (area B).
Commercially available devices/tools
Rotary wire brush
- Cut off spot welds on remaining section (2) (area B).
Commercially available devices/tools
Spot weld milling machine
- Remove remaining piece (2).
- Grind down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

- Remove shavings and milling chips.
