The system can be operated as follows:

Internet-in-the-Car

The WiFi hotspot allows for the use of the Internet wirelessly in the vehicle with mobile end devices. The head unit as a Wireless Access Point (WAP) exchanges data via the WiFi antenna with the mobile end devices and routes signals to the Internet.

Telephony

Up to 15 different mobile phones can be authorized in the multimedia system. A two phone mode is possible at any time, whereby the second telephone can only accept incoming calls and/or messages.

Code F1 B (Stowage compartment for smartphones incl wireless charging)

The stowage tray is located in the upper center area of the cockpit and allows for the wireless charging of smartphones up to a size of 6.7" (17 cm). The charging function is possible for all mobile devices that support the Qi Standard 1.2. The multimedia connection unit for the connection of portable devices is expanded by a USB-C interface.

Code E1I (Smartphone cradle)

The holder is located between the multifunction steering wheel and the center area of the cockpit and is vertically positioned. Via two infinitely adjustable attachments, all current devices from a width of 44 mm and max. 82 mm can be attached. The device can be charged via a 5 V USB-C socket installed in the center of the cockpit.

Code E1D (Digital radio)

The digital radio allows for the reception of digital, terrestrial radio stations by means of an additional antenna and digital tuner. In areas and regions in which no digital signals are available, the DAB tuner automatically switches from digital to analog reception. A manual switchover from digital to analog reception is possible.

CODE E1E (Navigation)

In combination with code E1E (Navigation), the MBUX multimedia system with 7" touchscreen becomes a full-featured navigation system that is fully integrated into the control and display concept. The navigation is shown both on the touchscreen of the multimedia system and in the instrument cluster. The operation can optionally be realized via:

Mercedes-Benz emergency call system

In an accident, the standard Mercedes-Benz emergency call system can help to shorten the time until the rescue services arrive at the accident location. The data transfer is realized in the case of an available network and data connection via the communication module (LTE) for digital services. The emergency call can be triggered automatically via the crash sensors or manually by the driver via the SOS button in the overhead control panel. In combination with the code F50 (Platform), the switch is located in the lower center console.

Accident and Breakdown Management

The standard Accident and Breakdown Management allows the driver in the case of a breakdown to request technical support by actuating the breakdown button in the overhead control panel and/or via the phone book entry in their own address book. In combination with the code F50 (Platform), the switch is located in the lower center console.

Communication module (LTE) for digital services

A permanently installed SIM card of the standard communication module (LTE) facilitates a reliable and rapid connection of the vehicle with the Internet. This is used for the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system, Live Traffic Information and for all additional services of Mercedes PRO connect.
