Notes On Using Electrical Or Pneumatic Screwdrivers/Impact Wrenches - Ah00.00-N-0017-01A
MODEL ALL
In order to make work easier (effort and time) when performing maintenance and repair work, electric or pneumatic power screwdrivers (e.g. cordless screwdrivers, pneumatic screwdrivers, impact wrenches/drivers) can be used to screw out and screw in bolts or to screw off and screw on nuts in areas where multiple threaded connections (e.g. transmission housing, timing case cover, oil pan, cylinder head cover, etc.) or threaded connections with long threads, corroded threads or self-locking bolts and nuts are present.
If power screwdrivers are used, the following notes must be observed.
Damage, malfunctions and consequential damage can otherwise occur.
- If a power screwdriver is used, the prescribed safety information from the respective manufacturer must be observed.
- The bolt or nut must first be loosened using a standard tool so that loosening torque is no longer necessary when using the power screwdriver. The power screwdriver or the bolted component can otherwise be damaged (as of M10 with rechargeable or pneumatic screwdriver).
- Before screwing in or screwing on, it must be ensured that the threads are free from foreign objects or dirt. The threads must be undamaged.
- When bolts and nuts are screwed in/on, they must be correctly positioned before the power screwdriver is used.
- When screwing in or screwing on, make sure that the permissible torque of the threaded connection is not exceeded.
- If specified, the bolts or nuts must also be tightened to the correct tightening torque and, where necessary, to a specific tightening angle.
No greases, oils, waxes or other lubricants may come into contact with or be applied to bolted connections and their contact surfaces. The preload forces will otherwise no longer meet the specifications.
Faulty, insufficiently tightened, too strongly tightened, corroded or damaged threaded connections impair operational safety.
This can result in damage, malfunctions and consequential damage.
