We would like to provide you with a summary of how to handle the remote function or functions that start automatically. This service information is the version from February 2021 and does not claim to be complete. We would therefore like to ask you to observe the respective instructions and possible updates in WIS.
Some functions can be triggered irrespective of the technician. These can harm the technician or damage the vehicle.
These are the following functions:
- Stationary heater by starting the fan, the blower, the pumps in the water circuit and the heater.
- Dangers: Crush injuries, burns, scalds, inhalation of exhaust gases.
- Pre-entry climate control by starting the fan, the blower, the pumps in water circuit or by activating the HV-PTC and refrigerant compressor and on-board electrical system support.
- Dangers: Crush injuries, burns, scalds, damage to the vehicle due to short circuit.
- Remote Start by starting the combustion engine, the fan, the blower, the pumps in the water circuit and other rotating parts.
- Dangers: Crush injuries, scalds, burns, inhalation of exhaust gases.
- Remote opening/closing.
- Dangers: Key being locked in, for additional door lock: Technician becoming locked in.
- Remote window opening/closing.
- Dangers: Crush injuries.
- Remote panoramic/sliding sunroof opening/closing.
- Dangers: Crush injuries.
- Vehicle charging by starting the fan, the blower, the pumps in the water circuit or by activating the HV-PTC and refrigerant compressor and on-board electrical system support
- Dangers: Crush injuries, burns, scalds, damage to the vehicle due to short circuit.
- On-board electrical system support because the 12 V on-board electrical system is supplied by the DC/DC converter (high-voltage battery or 48 V battery).
- Dangers: Burns, damage to the vehicle due to short circuit.
- Extension of running boards.
- Dangers: Crush injuries, damage to the vehicle, impact.
- Opening tailgate using HANDS-FREE ACCESS
- Dangers: Impact, crush injuries, damage to the vehicle.
Note that which functions are present may vary depending on the modification year, model series and country.
Measures to prevent the functions from starting are provided in the corresponding work instructions. Observe these in accordance with the operations.
An overview is provided here:
- Pre-entry climate control: Open hood and remove charging cable if present.
Model 242: Deactivate using XENTRY Diagnosis
- Remote Start: Open hood and driver's window.
- Remote opening/closing: Lower window.
- Remote window opening/closing: Do not lock veh.
- Remote panoramic/sliding roof opening/closing: Do not lock veh.
- Stationary heater/pre-entry climate control: Check setting in instrument cluster and deactivate starting times if necessary.
- On-board electrical system support: Open hood and remove charging cable if present and wait 30 s. Model 242: Perform high-voltage disabling.
- Extension of running boards: Deactivate in head unit
- Opening tailgate using HANDS-FREE ACCESS: Store key outside of KEYLESS-GO range.
