Separate Longitudinal Member Front Section - Ar62.20-P-1260-01LF
MODEL 217, 222
The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
Shown on MODEL 222
- Mark separating point for coarse cut on longitudinal member front section (1) (areas A).
Dimensions:
a = approx. 20 mm
Measure separating point from Y-markings toward front.
- Separate welding bolts in area of cut.
- Cut longitudinal member front section (1) at separating point (areas A).
- Remove longitudinal member front section (1).
- Mark separating point on reinforcement (2) and cut (area B).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
b = approx. 35 mm
Measure separating point from Y-markings toward rear.
Shown on MODEL 222
- Expose weld seams on reinforcement (2), cut and grind down flat (areas C).
- Remove reinforcement (2).
Shown on MODEL 222
Operation steps 8, 9 and 11 are shown and described in the Celette straightening system. When reusing other approved straightening systems must be used in the same manner.
- Set up straightening tool (4 and 5) with Multi-Z towers.
Do not screw Multi-Z towers with module members.
- Fasten longitudinal member front section new part (1) to straightening tool (4 and 5) and position at inside of body.
When positioning body, ensure that the holes in the Multi-Z towers are aligned in the module members, because otherwise the separating parts cannot be marked correctly.
- Mark separating point on inside of body (area E).
Use longitudinal member front section new part (1) as cutting template.
Shown on MODEL 222
- Position longitudinal member front section new part (1) at outside of body with straightening tool (4 and 5).
When positioning body, ensure that the holes in the Multi-Z towers are aligned in the module members, because otherwise the separating parts cannot be marked correctly.
- Mark separation point on outside of body (area E).
Use longitudinal member front section new part (1) as cutting template.
- Cut separating point on body (area E).

Shown on MODEL 222
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar side wall.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust.
