Location

The Supplemental Restraint System control unit is located on the transmission tunnel.

Tasks

The supplemental restraint system control unit has the following tasks:

IMPORTANT Model 217, 222

with code 494 (US version)

An accident data recorder is integrated in the Supplemental Restraint System control unit; it records relevant data before, during, and after an accident. The data stored can be used to trace back the course of the accident.

Reading in of signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line

The signals from the following sensors are read in via direct lines:

Seat occupied recognition LIN

The weight sensing system (WSS) control unit (N110) (with code U10 (Automatic front passenger airbag shutoff)) or the front passenger seat occupied recognition and ACSR [AKSE] (B48) (model 222 with code U18 (Automatic child seat recognition ACSR [AKSE])) sends the status of the front passenger seat occupancy via seat occupancy LIN to the supplemental restraint system control unit.

User interface CAN

The following signals are read in via the user interface CAN among other things:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components

The following components are actuated via direct lines:

Transmitting signals

The signals are transmitted via the following connections:

Seat occupied recognition LIN

The following signals, among others, are sent over the seat occupancy LIN:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

User interface CAN

The following signals are sent via the user interface CAN among other things:

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
