- Coat measuring head (2) of oil level sensor with Apply couplant and calibrate.
Test block is included in the scope of supply of the oil level sensor.
- Coat sensor surface of sensor (2) with Apply couplant.
- Clean measuring head mount on oil pan (34).
- Attach measuring head (2) of oil level sensor to oil pan (34).
- Position oil receptacle under oil pan (34).
Commercially available devices/tools
Oil receptacle
- Remove quick-release fastener (30) using
socket wrench.
- Connect diagnostic unit.
- Start test routine.
The test is called up in the vehicle diagnosis system as follows:
→ Control units view
→ Transmission control (VGS)
→ Actuations
→ Oil level check
→ Method:
→ Select oil level check with ultrasound measuring instrument.
→ Perform appropriate test routine.
Follow work sequence in XENTRY.
- When oil level specified value is reached in guided test routine, compare this with actual value on oil level sensor.
With thermostat-controlled oil cooler:
After replacing oil cooler or oil lines, heat transmission oil up to 90°C until thermostat on oil cooler opens. Then check oil level and correct if necessary!
If oil level is OK,
↓
continue with operation step 12.
If the oil level is too low,
↓
continue with operation step 10.1.
If oil level is too high,
↓
continue with operation step 10.2.
-
- If transmission oil level is too low.
Attach oil dispenser with
adapter to oil pan (34) and add transmission oil.
The oil dispenser filling pressure must not exceed 2 bar.
Otherwise damage and leaks can occur at the transmission.
- If transmission oil level is too high.
Drain transmission oil until specified value is displayed on oil level sensor.
- If transmission oil level is too low.
- Remove oil dispenser with
adapter from oil pan (34).
If transmission oil level is too low.
Remove oil dispenser with
adapter with engine running.
- Screw quick-release fastener (30) into oil pan (34).
Replace quick-release fastener (30).
If oil pan (34) is replaced, install included quick-release coupling (30).
- Remove sensor head (2) of oil level sensor from oil pan (34).
- Clean area surrounding quick-release fastener (30) and ultrasonic sensor mount using assembly cleaner.
- Switch off engine.
- Disconnect diagnostic device from vehicle.
