A DC/DC converter is integrated in the power electronics control unit, which converts the high voltage direct voltage (primary voltage) into 12 V direct voltage (secondary voltage) and vice versa and transfers these between the high voltage on-board electrical system and the 12 V on-board electrical system.

In order to ensure secure a reliable supply of power to the 12 V onboard electrical system, an alternator is required in addition to the electric machine due to the machine's low output compared to plug-in hybrids.

Electrical fuses in high-voltage battery
Replaceable fuses are found in the high-voltage battery (electrical fuse 750, electrical fuse 751, and electrical fuse 752). These are placed under a removable cover (with interlock contact breaker point), and located in the electric circuit behind the contactor.
In this way the electrical fuses for orderly power disconnect are not under voltage.

Low-temperature circuit 1
The low-temperature circuit temperature sensor and the low-temperature circuit switchover valve primarily serve the function charge air cooling.

For model 222.163 a more powerful and therefore a longer electrical machine is installed. This has an output of 80 kW and is 33 mm longer. This results in a longer transmission bell housing. There are no additional installation changes on the transmission.
