Inspect Cooling System For Leaks - AR20.00-P-1010LF

Model 217 with engine 157, 176, 177, 276, 278, 279

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch on ignition.    
2 Adjust heater to maximum heat output.    
3 Remove cap (1).    
4 Check coolant level and correct. FLUID SPECIFICATION Model 217 with engine 157, 176, 177, 276, 278, 279

5 Install tester cap (3) at coolant expansion reservoir (2). SPECIAL TOOL Test cap Fig 1
6 Connect pressure pump (4) to tester cap (3). SPECIAL TOOL Pressure pump Fig 2
INSPECT Check     
7 Apply a test pressure to the engine cooling system for 2 minutes. NOTES Do not exceed the specified test pressure. Otherwise the engine cooling system will be damaged.
IMPORTANT There must not be any pressure loss within 2 min.

    Model 217 with engine 157, 276, 278, 279
Model 222 with engine 157, 256, 264, 276, 277, 278, 279, 642, 651, 656 Test pressure for pressure-testing the engine cooling system

8 Check condition of all coolant carrying component parts and connections and check for leak tightness. In the event of pressure loss.
If there is a problem,

Replace corresponding components.
 
INSTALLING Install     
9 Release test pressure via valve at pressure pump (4) SPECIAL TOOL Pressure pump Fig 2
10 Remove pressure pump (4) from tester cap    
11 Remove tester cap (3). SPECIAL TOOL Test cap Fig 1
12 Check coolant level and correct. FLUID SPECIFICATION Coolant mixing ratio *BF20.00-P-1001-04A 
13 Attach cap (1).
