Detach

Mark position of drive shaft (1) relative to flange of transmission or transfer case or rear axle differential in color.
Fit counterholder onto bolts (2a) of rear flexible coupling (2).
For vehicles with direct bolted connection.

Helper required.
Remove bolts (2a).
Remove counterholder.
Shown on flexible coupling on automatic transmission without direct bolted connection

Release plug bushings of flexible coupling (2) using drift, as shown, from flange.
If necessary.
Detach drive shaft (1) from flange of transmission or transfer case or rear axle differential.
Carefully detach drive shaft (1).

Otherwise the pilot bushing in the drive shaft (1) may be damaged.

Attach
Restore original installation position of drive shaft (1) using colored marking.
Slide drive shaft (1) onto flange of transmission or transfer case or rear axle differential.
Carefully slide on drive shaft (1).

Otherwise the pilot bushing in the drive shaft (1) may be damaged.
Fit counterholder onto bolts (2a) of rear flexible coupling (2).
For vehicles with direct bolted connection.

Helper required.
Screw-in bolts (2a). Model 222

Install new bolts (2a).
Remove counterholder from rear flexible coupling (2).
