Remove C-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-0500-01LF

Model 222 

except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Model 222.9

    except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

    Mark separating points on C-pillar reinforcement (4) and cut (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions  :

    p = approx. 170 mm

  2. Model 222.9

    except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

    Expose spot welds on C-pillar reinforcement (4) and cut out (areas R and S).

    IMPORTANT Cut out weld spots through two sheet metal thicknesses (area S).

  3. Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and cut out (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas B).

  4. Expose clinch connection on C-pillar (1) and drill through with Ø 6 mm bit (areas C1 and C2 ).

    IMPORTANT The clinch connections can also be separated with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets (area C2).

  5. Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and drill out with Ø 65 mm bit (area D).

  6. Heat C-pillar (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  7. Remove C-pillar (1).

  8. Smooth bonding surface on structural foam part with fine-grit abrasive paper (area F).

    IMPORTANT Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.

  9. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  11. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas E).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
