Prepare A And B-Pillar Complete With Longitudinal Member - Ar63.20-P-1120-02LF

Model 222 

except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Grind mating surfaces on A and B-pillar paneling (1.1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas A).

  2. Remove grinding dust.

    Shown on model 222.0 

  3. Mark separating point on roof frame paneling (1.2) and cut (area B).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation point from vehicle.

  4. Grind mating surfaces on roof frame paneling (1.2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  5. Remove grinding dust.
  6. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas C).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas C).

  7. Mark side longitudinal member paneling separating points (1.3) and cut (areas D and D2 ).

    IMPORTANT Take separation points from vehicle.

  8. Grind mating surfaces on side longitudinal member paneling (1.3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area E).

  9. Remove grinding dust.

  10. Grind mating surfaces on A and B-pillar paneling reinforcement (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  11. Remove grinding dust.
  12. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust (areas F).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas F).

  13. Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar inner panel (3.1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces on outer side (areas G2 ).

  14. Remove grinding dust.
  15. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G1 ).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas G1 ).

  16. Grind mating surfaces on roof frame inner panel (3.2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces on outside (areas H2 ).

  17. Remove grinding dust.
  18. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not apply zinc dust paint to bonding surfaces (area H1 ).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (area H1 ).

  19. Grind mating surfaces on B-pillar inner panel (3.3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  20. Remove grinding dust.
  21. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas I).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment on outer surfaces of bonding surfaces (areas I).
