Separate Upper Front Longitudinal Member - Ar62.20-P-1286-01LF

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

- Expose self-piercing rivets on strut (2) and rivet with Ø 6 mm bit (area A).
The self-piercing rivets can also be separated with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets.
- Unscrew bolts (3) from strut (2).
- Heat strut (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove strut (2).

- Mark separating points on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut (areas B).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut out (areas C).
- Expose clinch connections on upper front longitudinal member (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (area D).
- Expose self-piercing riveting on upper front longitudinal member (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas E and F).
The self-piercing rivets can also be separated with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets (area F).
- Unscrew bolts (4) from upper front longitudinal member (1).

- Heat upper front longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove upper front longitudinal member (1).

- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
