Remove Longitudinal Member Outer Shell On Entrance - Ar63.30-P-1102-01LF

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

The longitudinal member outer shell only be replaced partially depending on the damage. For this purpose the longitudinal member outer shell can be separated at the specified separating points.

Observe standard series production joining and bonded connections.

  1. Model 222.9

    except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

    Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (4) and cut out (area N).

  2. Model 222.9

    except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

    Mark separating point on B-pillar reinforcement (4) and cut (area P).

    If B-pillar reinforcement (4) is only replaced partially.

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Optional separation point for parts kit for B-pillar reinforcement (4).

    Heat B-pillar reinforcement (4) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

    If longitudinal member outer shell (1) is only replaced partially.

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Optional separation point for parts kit for longitudinal member outer shell (1).

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    r = approx. 370 mm

  6. Mark separating point on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut (area A or B).

    If longitudinal member outer shell (1) is only replaced partially.

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Mark separating point along Y-marking (area BA).

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 25 mm

  7. Mark separating point on outer A-pillar bottom section (2) and cut (area C).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    c1 = approx. 5 mm

    c2 = approx. 30 mm

  8. Expose spot welds on outer A-pillar bottom section (2) and cut out (areas D1 , D2 and D3 ).

  9. Heat outer A-pillar paneling (2) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  10. Remove outer A-pillar bottom section (2).

  20. Remove outer longitudinal member shell (1).

  21. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  22. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  23. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas M).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
