Remove C-Pillar Strut - Ar63.20-P-0500-07LFS

Model 222 

with code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Expose spot welds on C-pillar strut (1) and cut out (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas B).

  2. Expose clinch connection on C-pillar strut (1) and drill through with Ø 6 mm bit (areas C1 and C2 ).

    IMPORTANT The clinch connections can also be separated with a riveter for self-piercing and flow-form rivets (area C2).

  3. Expose spot welds on C-pillar strut (1) and drill with Ø 65 mm bit (area D)

  4. Heat C-pillar strut (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  5. Remove C-pillar strut (1).

  6. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  7. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  8. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas E).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
