The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) Mark separating points on rear fender (1) and cut (areas A and B).
Take separation points from vehicle.

except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) Mark separating points on rear fender (1) and cut (areas F, E and G).
Take separation points from vehicle.
- Model 222.9
except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) Remove grinding dust.

Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
- Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area C).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
Rear fender (1), inside, shown on MODEL 222.0
- Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas D).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
