Remove A-Pillar And B-Pillars Completely With Longitudinal Member - Ar63.20-P-1120-01GQX

Dimensions

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Scribe separating point and cut (areas A1 , A2 , A3 , B1 and B2).

    IMPORTANT Separating points in areas A1 , A2 , A3 , B1 and B2 facilitate removal. Measure dimension (a) from reference line.

  2. Remove sections (8.1) and (8.2).
  3. Expose spot weld on roof paneling section (7) and cut out (area C).
  4. Scribe separating point on roof paneling section (7) and cut (area B3 ).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Roof paneling section (7) is required for installation. Measure dimensions (b1 and b2 ) from reference lines.

  5. Remove roof paneling section (7).
  6. Scribe separating point on A and B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (area D3 ).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Measure dimensions (b3 and b4 ) from hole (arrow).

  7. Expose spot welds on A and B-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas D1 and D2 ).
  8. Remove section on A and B-pillar paneling (1).
  9. Expose spot welds on side wall reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas Ei and E3).
  10. Drill out spot welds on side wall reinforcement (2) (area E2 ).
  11. Heat side wall reinforcement (2) in crosshatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  12. Remove side wall reinforcement section (2).

    Dimensions 

  13. Expose spot welds on roof frame section (8.3) and cut out (areas F1 and F2 ).
  14. Remove roof frame section (8.3).

    Dimension 

  15. Scribe separating point on A and B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (area I).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Measure dimension (c) from reference line.

  16. Expose spot welds on A and B-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas G1 , G2 , G3 , G4 , H1 and H2 ).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas G1 and G4 ).

  17. Remove damaged A and B-pillar paneling (1).

    Dimension 

  18. Scribe separating point on side wall reinforcement (2) and cut (area K2 ).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Measure dimension (d) from reference line.

  19. Expose MIG solder seam on side wall reinforcement (2) and grind off (area K,).
  20. Expose spot welds on side wall reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas J1 , J2 , J3 and J4 ).

    IMPORTANT Cut out weld spots through two panel thicknesses (area J3 ).

  21. Heat side wall reinforcement (2) in crosshatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  22. Remove damaged side wall reinforcement (2).
  23. Expose spot welds on inner front side wall (3) and cut out (areas L1 , L2 , L3 and L4 ).
  24. Remove damaged inner front side wall (3).

  25. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar side wall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  26. Remove shavings and drill chips.
  27. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
