As a replacement, a transport film is applied at the factory as vehicle protection to the following surfaces on the vehicle:

Horizontal surfaces (engine hood, roof, trunk lid)
Front fender, rear fender
Front or rear door on driver's side
Outside mirror housings
Bumper

The transport foil usually remains on the painted surface until the vehicle is prepared for sale. The transport film must be removed at the sales partner centers or dealership 24 hours before the preparation for sale.

Time Transport Film Remains On Vehicle

The time the transport film remains on the vehicle is limited to 180 days (new). The transport film is therefore provided with an adhesive label on the engine hood which indicates the latest removal date for the transport film. After the removal date has expired, the transport film must be removed by pulling it off of the vehicle manually.

Removal Of Transport Film

In exceptional cases (transport film is missing or is damaged, attachment time has expired or paintwork rectification is necessary), it is necessary to reattach transport film to the entire vehicle or parts of the originally protected surfaces. For this purpose, the transport film and adhesive tape must first be removed by hand.

If temperatures are too high (> 50°C) adhesive residue could remain on the painted surface.

On iced up vehicles, the transport film may tear during removal due to the influence of ice and snow.

Snow and ice residues can be thawed by heating up the surface temperature of the vehicle in a heated hall or with the help of a hot air gun.

Heating also makes it easier to remove stubborn masking tape residues and adhesive residues.

A heat source and benzine must not be used at the same time.

In rare cases, localized swellings of the paintwork may be visible after the transport film is removed. However, this will recede on its own during the course of a day.

Disposal Of Transport Film

The transport film, the adhesive tape and the label for marking the expiration date consist of polyolefin materials polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP).

Dispose of separated transport film waste as foil waste. When doing so, please observe the respective legal regulations in your country.
