5	Tension rear axle spring (1)	The tensioning device (3a) must not be tensioned or released using a pneumatically or electrically powered tool. Otherwise damage will occur. The tab on the punched lower spring cup (5b) must latch into the groove in the lower control arm (2).
6	Remove rear axle spring (1) together with the tensioning device (3a)
7	Relieve rear axle spring (1)
8	Replace expansion clip (6)
	Check
9	Remove punched lower spring retainer (5b), upper spring retainer (4), rubber insert (7) and the spring seat (10), then check for wear and damage, replace, if necessary	The closed lower spring cup (5a) must be replaced by the punched lower spring cup (5b).
10.1	Adjust vehicle level by detaching spring seat (10) and plastic ring (9) from upper spring cup (4), and - depending on the change request, shims (8) - removing or adding to them	Model 166, 292 except code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension) When replacing the rear axle springs (1) and if required. 10.2	Adjust vehicle level by detaching spring seat (10) and plastic ring (9) from upper spring cup (4), and - depending on the change request, shims (8) - removing or adding to them	Model 164, 251 except code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension) If required.
	Install
11	Tension rear axle spring (1) using tensioning device (3a) and position between lower control arm (2) and upper spring cup	Rear axle springs (1) may only be replaced in pairs. Here, as many windings as possible on the rear axle spring (1) must be tensioned.
