Cut Off B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1350-05GQX
Model 166.8, 292
The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
Shown on model 166.8
- Scribe separating point on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas A).
Measure dimension (a) from edge of roof frame strut. Measure dimension (a) for separating point in area A from upper side wall cutout (arrow).
Removal : a = approx. 50 mm
b = approx. 220 mm
- Scribe separating point on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas B1 and B2).
Separating point in area B2is Y-marking (arrow). Determine separating point in area B1 according to degree of damage.
- Cut separating point on side wall paneling (1) (areas A, B1 and B2).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas B3, C1 and C2).
- Remove damaged side wall paneling (1).
Shown on model 166.8
- Expose spot welds on outer B-pillar (2) and cut (areas D1, D2, D3 and D4).
- Heat outer B-pillar (2) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove damaged outer B-pillar (2).
- Scribe separating point on outer longitudinal member (3) and cut (areas G1 and G2).
Determine separation points according to degree of damage (areas G1 and G2).
- Scribe separating point on outer longitudinal member (3) and cut (areas G1 and G2).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on outer longitudinal member (3) and cut (areas E1, E2, E3 and F1).
Cut out weld spots through two sheet metal thicknesses (area F1).
- Heat outer longitudinal member (3) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove damaged outer longitudinal member (3).

- Scribe separating point on section (5) (area I1).
Dimension (c) measured from area I2 (Overlap roof frame strut) to area I1 (separating point).
Removal : c = approx. 290 mm
- Cut section (5) on separation point (areas
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on section (5) and cut (areas H1, H2, H3 and I2).
- Remove section (5).
- Expose spot welds on inner B-pillar (4) and cut (areas J1, J2, H4 and H5).
- Remove damaged inner B-pillar (4).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot welding flanges with zinc dust paint.
