Press out
Attach extraction and insertion tool to rear axle shaft flange.
- Screw nut onto threaded bolt.
- Screw threaded pin into threaded rod of
extraction and insertion tool and tighten.
- Push out rear axle shaft (37) using
extraction and insertion tool and then remove.
Inserting
On rear axle shafts (37) which are glued in before installation, clean the rear axle's (37) splined shaft profile and the rear axle shaft flange mechanically.
In the event of sluggishness, is thread M8 should be cut into the rear axle shaft (37), to then draw this in using the extraction and insertion tool.
Screw the bracket (039) onto the shaft journal of the rear axle shaft (37) and clamp in vise.
- Insert drill bush with Ø 4 mm (detachable) (039a) and lock in place using bolt (039c).

- Drill core hole bore to a depth of approx. 20 mm using a drill bit (Ø 4 mm) (dimension a), while at the same time cooling and lubricating drill bit.
- Remove drill bush with Ø 4 mm (detachable) (039a) with bolt (039c).
- Drill core hole bore to a depth of approx. 20 mm using a 6.8 mm dia. drill bit (dimension a), cooling and lubricating the drill bit in the process.
- Precut thread M8 using a stage 1 and 2 tap.
Unscrew bracket (039) from rear axle shaft (37) and clamp rear axle shaft (37) in vise.
- Finish cutting M8 threads with stage 3 tap.
- Draw the rear axle shaft (37) using
extraction and insertion tool into the rear axle shaft flange.
Detach extraction and insertion tool from rear axle shaft flange.
