Install Rear Fender - Ar63.50-P-1400-04LWS

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle in model 205.2. This must be similarly performed for damage to the right side of the vehicle.

  1. Install rear fender (1) and fit.
  2. Install rear bumper.
  3. Install tail lamp.
  4. Install door seal.
  5. Install striker eye.
  6. Check and adjust gap dimensions.
  7. Fix rear fender (1) in place.
  8. Remove striker eye.
  9. Remove door seal.
  10. Remove tail lamp.
  11. Remove rear bumper.
  12. Drill rivet holes on rear fender (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (area A).
  13. Model 205.2

    Drill rivet holes on rear fender (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area J).

  14. Remove rear fender (1).
  15. Deburr rivet holes on rear fender (1) and body on both sides.
  16. Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.

  17. Install suitable spacers on outer rear wheel well at uniform intervals (area B1 ).
  18. Apply sealant to outer rear wheel well and foam parts (areas B1 and C).
  19. Model 253.9

    Model 293

    Apply sealant to D-pillar (area B2 ).

    IMPORTANT Apply sealant up to max. 20 mm from cutting edge.

  20. Model 205.2

    Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (area D).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  21. Install rear fender (1) and fix in place.
  22. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivet (area E).
  23. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas F1 ).
  24. Model 253.9

    Model 293

    Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area F2).

  25. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (area G).
  26. Model 205.2

    Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivet (area I).

  27. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area H1 ).
  28. Model 205.2

    Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area H2 ).

  29. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas K, L and M).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  30. Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas K, L and M).
  31. Solder surfaces on rear fender (1) with body solder and smooth (areas K, L and M).

    IMPORTANT Alternatively to restorage of the surfaces with body solder, it is also possible to use a body basic spatula.
