The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicles for models 205 and 253; in the event of damage on the right side of the vehicle, perform in the same way.
The superordinate customer service document and the safety information in the customer service document must be observed.
- Expose spot welds on the strut (2) and on the bracket (4) and cut off (area A and B).
Cut out spot welds through two sheet metal thicknesses (area B).
- Remove bracket (4).
- Warm strut (2) in the cross-hatched area.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove strut (2).

Mark separating point on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut (area C).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
c = approx. 20 mm
- Mark separating points on the front top longitudinal member (1) and reinforcement (3) and disconnect (area D and E).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose screws (5) on the top front longitudinal member (1) and remove.

Expose spot welds on upper front longitudinal member (1) and reinforcement (3) and cut out (areas F1 ).

- Expose self-piercing riveting on upper front longitudinal member (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (area G).

Expose spot welds on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut out (area F3 ).
- Heat upper front longitudinal member (1) and reinforcement (3) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove reinforcement (3).

Heat upper front longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove upper front longitudinal member (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges. onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area H).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

Grind mating surface down to bare metal in cross-hatched area.
- Remove grinding dust.
