Pre-Treatment of bonding surfaces made of aluminum and steel

It is necessary to carefully prepare the bonding surfaces in order to obtain a good bond between the adhesive and the surfaces of the parts to be attached.

After removing old adhesive, dirt, rust, paint or oxide layers from the bonding surfaces, the adhesive flanges can be ground down or brushed to bare metal.

IMPORTANT On aluminum surfaces, use CrNi wire brush.

The mixed primer must only be applied to the bare flange areas. They must have been cleaned beforehand with the cleaning agent provided. After use, dispose of cleaning cloth as special waste due to the residue of the cleaning agent.

IMPORTANT Do not touch cleaned areas without gloves (transfer of sweat from hands).

Primer

IMPORTANT Metal mating surfaces require ore-treatment with primer for bonding. This primer is required to ensure surface cleanliness as well as improved long-term stability of the bonds.

The mixed primer is applied thinly to the prepared bonding surfaces, using a flat brush.

The mixed primer is worked into the surface using unused abrasive paper from the package contents.

IMPORTANT The result is positive when a uniform film of primer is present. If this is not the case, repeat ore-treatment.

After obtaining a positive result, wipe off the primer with a lint-free paper towel.

Stick the primed surfaces together immediately in order to prevent corrosion and soiling on the surfaces.

NOTES Always observe the specified operation steps and work instructions given in the adhesive kit.

Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
