General
The automatic reversing function is always active for electrically driven component parts when there is a danger of body parts becoming caught in moving parts.
The automatic reversing function reacts far more sensitively when compared with blockage detection. That soft, light or thin objects, such as small fingers, get caught in moving parts cannot be prevented under certain circumstances.
Things getting caught in moving parts is, depending on the system, detected by evaluating data from speed monitoring or force/current monitoring.
Speed monitoring comes into effect for, for example, the panoramic sliding sunroof and force/current monitoring for the rear side window roller sunblind.

Speed monitoring
During actuation, the current RPM of the electric motor is compared with the RPM determined during the learning procedure and through adaptation. If a certain limit value is undershot during this comparison, then this is interpreted as something getting caught in moving parts.
Force/current monitoring
Force/current monitoring can occur on the basis of two fundamentals. Either the limit values in the control unit are firmly set or they were recorded and stored during a learning procedure.
Neither values are fixed and they can be adapted to a limited degree by the system to the current conditions. Low or continuous deviations can, for example, be produced by wear or dirt in the mechanical components.
The power consumption of the electric motor serves as a reference for the clamping force of the mechanical components. If the power consumption exceeds a certain value, this is interpreted as something getting caught in moving parts.
Automatic reversing
If it is detected that something will get caught in moving parts when opening, actuation of the electric motor is immediately canceled.
When closing, actuation of the electric motor is immediately canceled and then reversed. The component part is then entirely or partially driven back (reversed).
If, within a defined amount of time after the first reversal, there is another request in the closing direction, a higher expenditure of force or a drop in speed is permitted.
If another request follows shortly after the second reversal, the automatic reversing function is switched off.
If the trigger for closing was an automatic function (e.g. rain closing function), then this function was already ended after the first reversal.
The ended function is then only available again after the next ignition cycle.
With a web-based operation, a second actuation is permitted. If it is once more determined that something will get caught in moving parts, then web-based operation is also locked until the next ignition cycle.
