Remove/Install Flexible Coupling Of Drive Shaft At Transmission End - AR41.10-P-0040-01LW

  Notes on threaded connections fastened using a tightening angle-based tightening process   AH00.00-P-0020-01A
  Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS Drift for releasing the fitting sleeves in the flexible couplings   WF58.50-P-4110-01A

Remove 

  1. Make colored mark at position of propeller shaft (1) relative to flange of transmission or differential.
  2. Attach SPECIAL TOOL counterholder to screws/bolts of flexible coupling (2) of rear axle differential.

    For vehicles with direct bolted connection.

    IMPORTANT Helper required.

  3. Remove bolts (2a).
  4. Remove SPECIAL TOOL counterholder.

    Shown on flexible coupling on automatic transmission without direct bolted connection

  5. Release plug bushings of flexible coupling (2) using drift, as shown, from flange.

    If necessary.

  6. Detach drive shaft (1) from flange of transmission or transfer case or rear axle differential.

    NOTES Carefully detach drive shaft (1).

    Otherwise the pilot bushing in the drive shaft (1) may be damaged.

    Install 

  7. Restore original installation position of drive shaft (1) using colored marking.

    For vehicles with direct bolted connection.

  8. Slide drive shaft (1) onto flange of transmission or transfer case or rear axle differential.

    NOTES Carefully slide on drive shaft (1).

    Otherwise the pilot bushing in the drive shaft (1) may be damaged.

  9. Attach SPECIAL TOOL counterholder to screws/bolts of rear flexible coupling (2).

    IMPORTANT Helper required.

  10. Screw-in bolts (2a). Model 166

  11. Remove SPECIAL TOOL counterholder from flexible coupling (2) of rear axle differential.
