The next steps are shown on model 205.0.
The crossmember can be separated at the standard joints or cut, if required.
Installation of the crossmember when separated on the left at the standard joining point and on the right by cutting is shown below as an example.
- Install crossmember (1), fit, and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes with a diameter of 6.7 mm in the crossmember (1) (areas A1
, A2
, B, C1
and C2
).
Drill rivet holes through the holes present in the crossmember (1) (area A1 and C1 ).
Drill rivet holes through present holes in body (areas B and C 2 ).
- Countersink rivet holes on the crossmember (1) (area C1 and C 2 ).
- Remove crossmember (1).
- Deburr rivet holes on crossmember (1) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of the riveted joints with zinc dust paint (area A1
, A2
, C1
and C 2
).
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.
Apply 2-component adhesive to inside (area D).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install crossmember (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet crossmember (1) with rivet with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (area E).
- Rivet crossmember (1) with rivet with a diameter of 6.5 x 12.5 (area F).
- Rivet crossmember (1) with Ø 6.4x14 countersunk-head rivet (area G1 ).
- Rivet crossmember (1) with Ø 6.4x15.5 countersunk-head rivet (area G2 ).

- Crossmember (1)
(area H).
- Crossmember (1)

Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
