The following operation steps have been described using an LHD vehicle. The component is installed as part of an identical process in RHD vehicles.

Route CD drive wiring harness (1) from the center console to the glove compartment.
Note required extended length of approx. 400 mm.
Secure the CD drive wiring harness (1) using a cable tie (3).
The CD drive connector (1.1) will be connected to the CD drive (2) at a later stage.

Route brown line (br) and red line (rt) of CD drive wiring harness (1) along vehicle wiring harness behind instrument cluster to left A-pillar.
Use cable tie (3) to fasten brown line (br) and red line (rt) on vehicle wiring harness.

Route red line (rt) of CD drive wiring harness (1) to the driver-side fuse and relay module (K40/6).
Install contact springs (1.3) of red line (rt) in cavity 1 of electrical fuse 204 (K40/6f204).
Use cable tie (3) to fasten red line (rt) on vehicle wiring harness.

Route CD drive wiring harness (1) to head unit (A26/17).
Connect head unit USB port connector (1.4) of CD drive wiring harness (1) to head unit (A26/17).
The slot in the head unit (A26/17) has been labeled as "USB 3".
Tie back the corresponding, excess cable length.
